Invitation to the public defence
You are warmly invited to the public defence of the doctoral thesis
Adaptive EMS Allocation: Crafting the Patient Safety Net in Prehospital Emergency Care.
An open invitation
Prehospital emergency care is where uncertainty meets urgency. Every incoming call requires decisions—often made with incomplete information,
under time pressure, and with finite resources. These decisions shape not only how quickly help arrives, but also how risk is distributed across
patients and over time.
In this public defence, I will present research on how EMS can function as a patient safety net through adaptive allocation and dispatch practices.
The work examines response-time distributions, prioritisation in a live queue, and the practical trade-offs that arise when clinical urgency and
system constraints collide. Across multiple studies and complementary methods, the aim is to contribute evidence and conceptual clarity for
safer, fairer, and more transparent EMS planning and decision support.
Colleagues, collaborators, students, and members of the public are all welcome to attend—either online via Microsoft Teams or in person.
Please register so that you can receive practical information, including the Teams link for online attendance.
With best regards,
Peter Hill
